Here we are, stuck by this river
You and I, underneath the sky that's ever
Falling down, down, down
Ever falling down
Through the day, as if on an ocean
Waiting here, always failing to remember
Why we came, came, came
I wonder why we came?
You talk to me as if from a distance
And I reply with impressions chosen
From another time, time, time
From another time
When I start making music, the seed ideas don’t ever come directly from me. A sample, a sound passing by caught by my ear-recorder, a happy mistake creating a rythm or a chord…These are the kind of magical events that light up the fire of my creativity and get me going.
The Urban Bird that I’ve been developping is the embodiment of this poetic ear, curious and mindful of the smallest musical opportunity. He is a lover of sounds, those of the city, fields, windmills, rocks and forests…Always willing to engage with any noise, provided that it has a story to share.
Becoming increasingly aware of the way I listen allows me to enter and to explore the soundscape deeper. The more I listen to the world for what it actually is, the better I am moved by its song.
On a Bird Scale is the result of the sound stroll undertaken these past two years. This is album marks the end of a period of ten years of producing music. It has been a journey that allowed me to thorougly explore my creative process and what expresses itself through the music I make. From the bedroom, to the studio, to your ears... I am proud to finally share these tracks, that have long been my companions, with you.
